searching the FEX

Whatever happened to the functionality for searching the fex and updating downloaded files?

I have functions from the FEX by Santosh Kasula of MathWorks: fxsearch, fxdownload, etc. These no longer work. Are there others with similar functionality?

Why is it more useful to search/download from the FEX programmatically, as opposed to using the FEX's own search engine?

Among other things, the package kept a record of all the files downloaded from the FEX and supported checking for updates
