Moat Operator

I have seen many people that say they have used the moat operator but I have not seen any examples of this.

Does anyone have any simple easy to understand examples?

  I see "moat operator" referred to in specialized articles on retinopathy, but I suspect few in this newsgroup would be familiar with the term. Certainly it is not one of the formal matlab operators. It sounds as though it could be readily accomplished using matlab's 'bwdist' function by finding all the pixels lying within a certain distance from an "object" in an image. Can you tell us exactly how it is defined?

I've never heard of it, much less from "many people." Perhaps like
Roger said someone is just using that term in a specialized field
because they didn't know the more common terms for whatever operation
it is.
