This site provides a tutorial for using the R2010b Matlab Distributed Computing Server. The setup is specific for the CCR cluster at University at Buffalo, SUNY. However, the files can be easily customized for any large cluster that uses a their own purchase of MPI, such as Intel-MPI, which allows communication over Infiniband b/w compute nodes. If you skip past this, you arrive at some general tips for using the MDCS and basic parallel programming in Matlab. Suggestions for the retrieval of data, images, and movies from a batch job are given. Sample parallel code is also provided. A cellular automata "snowflake code" is parallelized and a suggestion is given for viewing each peice of the domain on their respective workers during the parallel computation...a graphical way to debug parallel code and domain decomposition. |
