Job Summary

We are seeking an industry expert to grow the market for our Technical Computing and Model-Based Design products in the European aerospace industry.  As the industry marketing manager you will develop and execute on plans to drive increased adoption of MATLAB and Simulink family of products in various segments of the aerospace industry in Europe and beyond.

You will collaborate with the sales team in Europe, marketing, engineering, and other teams at MathWorks worldwide to develop the industry strategy, marketing message, supporting content, and marketing plan, as well as contribute to the long-term technology roadmap.  Through these efforts you will shape how the industry and customers perceive MathWorks and also champion the impact of industry trends on MathWorks product development plans

Responsibilities

1.  Provide direction and guidance to European sales and services personnel for the aerospace and defense industry in Europe

a)     Through customer visits, understand the customers’ need and develop messaging for how MathWorks’ products address aerospace industry challenges

b)     Work directly with sales teams in support of key sales opportunities and with key customers to drive product adoption

c)     Strategize with account managers to increase account penetration and build best practices for effectively increasing sales worldwide

2.  Drive awareness of MathWorks within the aerospace and defense industry across Europe

a)     Develop marketing programs and supporting materials, and use the web to effectively drive promotion in Europe

b)     Produce articles, technical papers, and user stories in support of aerospace and defense industry

c)     Deliver presentations at conferences and industry events and serve as the aerospace and defense spokesperson for Europe

3.  Develop business strategy for aerospace and defense industry in Europe

a)     Develop and execute the aerospace and defense industry strategy and business plan and review progress on it with an internal “board of advisors”

b)     Work closely with engineering staff to capture key aerospace and defense customer needs and in development of new features and products to support these needs

c)     Analyze aerospace and defense business performance, identify new market opportunities, and develop plans to increase penetration and growth

d)     Identify and work with critical partners to provide a complete solution for customer needs

Qualifications Required / Preferred

    • MS or higher degree in relevant engineering discipline
    • Experience with MathWorks products (MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow) or other multi-domain simulation software
    • Experience using modeling tools in the development of systems compliant to industry standards such as DO-178, DO-254, ARP 4754, or MISRA.
    • Strong knowledge and experience (7+ years) in the aerospace and defense industry with respect to embedded systems development
    • Experience and motivation supporting sales and engaging with customers in a multi-national environment

    Additional experiences important to the position:

    • MBA or product marketing experience
    • Prior employment with a leading corporation in aerospace
    • Experience with a global software company
    • Experience in forecasting and economic analysis

    Travel:

    • The candidate should expect to travel about 40% of the time.  Travel will be mostly within the Europe, but may also include travel to the Asia and North America.
