The International Micro Air Vehicle Flight Competition is held in Toulouse, France. Two of the missions during the competition are open to Micro Air Vehicles (MAV’s). The competitions are set-up to simulate a high level of autonomy, multiple MAVs working together, operable MAV systems, custom autopilot design, and high-performance platforms. There are both indoor and outdoor flight sessions. The indoor flight session consists of flying MAVs through windows and obstacles. Collision and obstacle avoidance and vision-based navigation are the key points for the mission. The outdoor flight session elicits capabilities such as cooperation within a group of MAVs, searching for targets, and flying through arches. The use of several MAVs to perform parallel tasks is encouraged.
